What is Invisible Disease?

An Invisible Disease is a health condition that does not have a visibly apparent sign or symptom. There are several forms of invisible diseases including Lupus.

Lupus

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease. Chronic meaning persisting for a long time or reoccurring and autoimmune meaning the body’s immune response is fighting against its own organs, tissues, and cells. As a result, lupus is considered an invisible disease because many diagnosed “do not look sick” and without proper treatment and care the disease can be disabling and life-threatening. Those living with lupus are often misunderstood or accused of faking their symptoms of disease.
